Our dear friend Doug Shaeffer, class of '63 died this past August 2005.  He had a massive heart attack while at home for lunch.  He had just had a complete physical and was pronounced in perfect shape in May.  Doug was the police chief in Novi, Michigan and former police chief of Oklahoma City.   Doug played pro hockey for the Red Wings after his graduation from Verdun.   His wife Loretta called to let me know of his passing.  Doug and Loretta had 2 son and 3 grandchildren.  He was one of the good guys.  Flo Smith
