I have received a letter from the daughter of my beloved roommate Jan Porter Johnson.  Jan's family was stationed in Metz when mine was at Toul Rosieres.  Her sister Judy also attended VHS, only a year behind.  Jan did not graduate with her class in 1962, but transferred  in the middle of her last year.  She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December of this year and lost her valiant  battle on April 7, 2007.  She was a loving mother of two and lived with her family in Kaiser, Oregon.
